Red Hat Enterprise Linux Desktop

Easy-to-use operating system software for the desktop, with graphics and multimedia facilities. It includes facilities for comprehensive office work, electronic-mail, browsing the World Wide Web, Messaging, Smart Card Login, Workspace Management, Security, Multi-Lingual Support and Management. It also provides wireless and laptop features for a mobile business user. Red Hat Enterprise Linux Desktop is offered as a per physical system annual subscription.

Multi-OS Option

The Linux Desktop Operating System with the Multi-OS option provides the ability to run multiple guest desktop operating systems at the same time. This capability is called Virtualization. This allows applications that run with other operating systems, Microsoft windows for example, to run on the Linux desktop.

Workstation Option

This option extends the Red Hat Enterprise Linux Desktop for Engineering and Software Development work.

Red Hat Enterprise Linux

It is for small and medium businesses to build servers and comes with a group of open source server applications. Server applications provide business services for both the internal and external customers of an organization. A server provides services to the server applications. Red Hat Enterprise Linux is offered as a per physical system annual subscription.

Red Hat Enterprise Linux Advanced Platform

In addition to the services provided by Red Hat Enterprise Linux, it also allows servers to host multiple guest operating systems and applications that run on them. This facility called as Virtualization is offered in two forms, Para and Full. The Advanced Platform allows unlimited virtualized guests, storage virtualization, High availability clustering and failover, and comprehensive management capabilities and is suitable for departmental and data center systems, ranging from large web servers to corporate databases.

Red Hat Enterprise Linux for Mainframes and High Performance Computing is also available.

Red Hat Network

Systems management for the enterprise. Manage all the desktops from a single point using a web based console. Two models are supported — Hosted model and Satellite Server model. A Proxy Server can be added to cache content locally, for further efficiency.

Red Hat Data Center

To Implement a new data center or migrate an existing one to open source. This solution includes the Red Hat Enterprise Linux Advanced Platform, Red Hat Global File System, Red Hat Volume Manager, Red Hat Cluster Suite, Conga (System Administration Tool), Red Hat Network Satellite Server, Red Hat Network Management and Provisioning Modules, Red Hat Directory Server, and the Red Hat Certificate System.

Red Hat Global File System

It allows you to manage a cluster of servers, as if it were one server.

Red Hat Cluster Suite

Application/Service Failover — Create n-node server clusters for failover of key applications and services. IP Load Balancing — Load balance incoming IP network requests across a farm of servers.

Red Hat Directory Server

For identity management. It centralizes application settings, user profiles, group data, policies, and access control information into an operating system-independent, network-based registry.
